We drove the Steely Van through the Smoky Mountains to pick up our little June Bug. Once in the region, we spent two beautiful nights along the Little River in Townsend, Tennessee. The Mountaineer Campground was small and lovely, filled with lots of shade. We parked the Steely Van in a spot right along the river, with a wooden deck overlooking the water, just a few steps down the bank to the river.

There is WiFi in the campground and a little camp store filled with fishing gear, t-shirts, knives of all sorts, and a very nice owner/manager who helped us choose all the necessary gear! The river is stocked with trout monthly, but we weren’t lucky enough to catch anything! I did see my FIRST bald eagle, though.

Just a short walk to a little ice cream shop with a vintage Mayberry style patrol car out front! Of course I had to snap a picture of Bob next to it.

We drove back through the mountains to Louisville, Tennessee, to Chilowhee RV to grab the June Bug. While there, we asked them to replace the cheap-looking plastic propane tank cover with a metal one. Lucky for us, they had one “in the back” and it fit perfectly, even though it is made for 30lb. tanks rather than the 20lb. tanks on the trailer.

When we were all hooked up and ready to pull out of the dealership, the staff commented that it was the first time they had seen a silver MB Interstate pulling a silver Airstream trailer. Lots of comments on how pretty the combination looked. We’re like a rolling advertisement for Airstream!
