We began the day by tricking our little dachshunds Opie and Betty into their kennels, saying goodbye, and loading Vera and all her necessary gear into the car for a big ride! It’s time to take a trip to see the Airstream factory in Jackson Center, Ohio.
Along the way, we stopped for lunch at a really nice rest stop on I-70 at mile marker 3. Vera was so well behaved as we got her some water and enjoyed our picnic.
The campground we chose for our four-night stay is Indian Lake State Park in Lakeview, Ohio.
We were so very impressed as we drove in. It’s an enormous campground with spacious sites and views of the big lake.
Our site was number 52, with full hook-ups. Lovely! We backed in, hooked up, unloaded, extended the awning, set up all our camping tables and chairs, and set out all the pretty things inside the June Bug. Time to sit down and enjoy a sip of whiskey…oops…we left it at home! So we set off to find a liquor store. Oops again…in Ohio the liquor stores close at 6pm! Let’s get beer, then. Lo, and behold in Ohio they have DRIVE THRU beer sales. We just pulled our car in and a lovely girl brought beer right to Bob’s window. What a find.

Lot number 50 is the premiere site in all of Indian Lake State Park and it is OURS for four nights.
When we got back to the campground we stopped at the office for something or other, and asked about the really pretty vacant site (number 50) two spots away from us. The girl behind the counter explained that it was not “reservable”, but we could have it if we’d like to move. I immediately said, “Yes!!” but Bob wasn’t quite convinced. I used my feminine wiles and got my way, though, so we drove down the lane to our campsite and did a complete move to site number 50. We accomplished the entire switch in less than 30 minutes. I had promised to do all the work myself, but Bob was excited about it by then so we worked together. Naturally, I wasn’t about to unhook the water, sewer, and electric!

Vera and Bob enjoyed some play time while I got our dinner ready

The best part of this particular site is the small shelter house situated along the lake front. Rain is in the forecast, but we need not worry!!

The campfire was extra special with Vera along
