The first order of business after breakfast was to get our firewood so we could have a roaring fire going all day long. No better way to get the chill off than a campfire! The camp host, Willard, was so outgoing and friendly, and he let me borrow his cart to walk the wood back to our campsite.
My second order of business was to get my “steps” in. That fitbit keeps me moving even when we’re off camping. So I took a walk through the entire campground. I was happy to see two other Airstreams on our same road. One older one and a 75th Anniversary Safari. It’s always fun to see other Airstreamers!
While I was out walking I met another camping couple who offered me a sip of moonshine. Of course, I had to try BOTH versions. Cherry and sour apple. I only took tiny sips because I wasn’t sure if it might poison me or make me go blind.
While I was walking, Bob tried and tried (and tried) to get the satellite going so we could watch football. No luck. The beauty of the place is in the trees, but naturally that makes it impossible to get a signal on the satellite. So instead, we enjoyed the great outdoors by the fire all day long.
As I toured the park, I took some pictures of the amenities. The place is very well kept up. I did not go into the campground bathrooms, but they were nicely landscaped! There is a nice swimming beach, john boats for rent, a little shop that sells snacks and bait, and even a fish cleaning station.
Bob did such a fine job of stoking the fire all day long that we were able to have our best version of foil dinners EVER. The coals were just perfect for cooking. And after dark there was a lovely near-full moon. The campground is pitch dark at night, which makes for great sleeping.
Do and I enjoyed meeting you and Bob, and watching for the eagles. Thanks for being great camping neighbors! :o) Happy journeys!
Oops! That should read “Don and I”! haha
