For a little while we enjoyed a really peaceful campsite, as many of the neighbors departed early.
Perfect timing: the resident eagle decided to fly across just as I had my camera at the ready!
Breaking camp
I gave away our sunflowers to other campers, but not before taking a couple of photos to remember them!
Time to depart. Starve Hollow has become a new favorite destination!
Even the dump station is scenic in the fall.

We would go there every summer when I was a kid. I loved being on a site right on the water. Visits to Brach’s in Brownstown for a cold milkshake (and some air conditioning!) on a hot summer day. Stopping at the hardware store that had Everything to buy bottles of Big Red. Learning to swim in the lake. Sitting with my dad and watching the fire at night. Such fond memories of this place. Thanks for the blast from the past—will have to visit there soon! P.s., watch out for the mutant ducks that roam the grounds!
Beth, we absolutely love this park, too. But I haven’t seen any mutant ducks. I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled when we’re down there this fall. Thanks for following along!
