Today we spent most of our time trying to stay warm! I happen to be one of those crazy people who likes winter, and I’m generally happy to wear coats and sweaters. But we did NOT come prepared for cold weather in Florida, so we’ve had to improvise. Our plan to cook lots of our meals over the campfire has changed, so our menus have changed, so….we decided to eat out! Why not?
The Great Southern Cafe called our name again…and we drove to Seaside for a delicious breakfast. I have decided vacation is a great time to just go ahead and get fat. Who could argue?

After breakfast, we packed up our campsite and moved to site number 16, as our reservation had run out and we had to extend it to avoid the bad weather up north.
The new campsite is smaller, with only water and electric hookups, but it is much more sheltered from the strong winter winds. We even have a tiny slice of a view over the lake to the dunes.

I was able to photograph the groovy spare tire on the 1964 Airstream as it was preparing to leave the campground. I love those fat whitewalls, and would like to see them on our Airstream, but they would likely look ridiculous on our modern trailer.
How darling is this little 1964 Shasta? A sweet young couple from Alabama is restoring it to its former glory.
Because we’ll be leaving soon, it was time to cook up the remaining food in the fridge. So we threw it all into some foil and cooked in the coals. Yum.

You are living our dream! Stay warm and safe. It is so cold here in Indy our 6 beagles are having a time of the potty expeditions! Keep the stories coming……they are great!

I believe this was the day we met you, Bob and Vera at Great Southern…we were sitting next to you! Well I have to admit, since then, you inspired my hubby to pursue his dream of having a camper. We have been tent campers our whole lives, but he dreamed of a small trailer. His dream came true in May when we purchased an R-Pod. It’s adorable! We are planning to spend a week at Grayton the end of October. Hope to catch up with you guys again. Maybe a northern Michigan fall color tour is calling your names…. 😉
Knowing you bought a trailer makes me so happy. And we LOVE northern Michigan. It’s where Bob got his start in radio, so it holds a special place in our hearts. It’s definitely on our list for future adventures. (We did go to Harbor Springs…have you checked out that post?)
