The entire country seems to be stuck in a deep freeze, and it has reached all the way down to the panhandle of Florida. We are still in Grayton Beach State Park, and although it has been sunny, the temperatures have plummeted. Our original plan to head north and home to Indiana had to be changed due to the threat of severe weather in Nashville. We do NOT want to tow the June Bug through snow, and we certainly don’t want to tow through ice. Apparently there is no way to get from here to home without going through Nashville!! So it was time to get creative.
I spent quite a bit of time on ReserveAmerica.com searching for a vacancy in one of the state parks south of here, with no luck at all. Those sites get snatched up 11 months in advance. So I registered our preferences with WanderingLabs.com, a clever site that matches preferences against openings on ReserveAmerica, hoping for a cancellation, but nothing materialized. So we did the only sensible thing — booked a spot in a park we know and love.
On Saturday we’ll hitch up and make the long drive back to Orlando. I know most of our friends and family are suffering in the bitter cold and snow, but we’re going to do our best to stay out of it for just a little while longer. Where are we going? We’re going to Disney World!
Tell Mickey hello!
We are looking forward to some warmer weather, and Mickey is just the ticket!
80 on Sunday in Orlando. Now THAT’S the ticket.
Yup. We ain’t no dummies!
