Starve Hollow State Recreation Area – Vallonia, Indiana

Another camping adventure!! Bob and I are trying to fit in as much Airstream adventure time as possible, with the season winding down. So we drove to southern Indiana for a long weekend. Starve Hollow is beautiful, although it’s a bit difficult to find if you listen to your GPS. We took a turn at the suggestion of the little voice in our dashboard, and ended up having to turn around and go back a mile or so. Lesson learned…plan your route in advance.

We chose this particular campground after deciding to stay within a couple hours drive of home. Our campsite was number 13, right on the lake, and we were thrilled with the spot!

There was a fairly heavy downpour as we checked into the park, so we just did the bare minimum to get set up for the night. There are no full hookup sites directly on the water, so plugging in the electric was the extent of our hookup effort! And right across the street from our campsite there was a water spigot to fill our fresh water tank. Lucky for us, Bob brought a 75 ft. potable water hose, and it reached the spot with ease.

We HIGHLY recommend this campground. Of course, keep in mind we were there during the peak color season, so our view was as good as it could possibly get in Indiana! The site was level, gravel, offered two picnic tables and a nice fire pit down by the water’s edge.

Of course, the first night was a true wash out, so we spent time in the June Bug pimping out the interior a little more.
