It’s the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500, and our annual tailgate is ready!
We have parked 7 RVs in a big rectangle with a central courtyard and set up camp for 5 nights, directly across the street from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Each family provides a meal, and we eat and drink quite well. Our location is perfectly situated for walking across 16th Street to the track for Carb Day and all the concerts and festivities. On Sunday morning we all get up early and walk across to enjoy the people watching and finally the race. SO. MUCH. FUN.
This year we were given a terrific banner for Checkerboard Square
There might be drinking and a little bit of craziness. Enjoy the photos…
We enjoy the race live, and then come back to Checkerboard Square and watch it on TV!
Saying goodbye to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway until next year
Looks like you all had a blast! Thanks for sharing the pictures.
Hot damn. I can’t wait for more. The license plate from Hawaii is due to service members sending their cars back home from being stationed there. I was one of them. Conversely, you see all kinds of different plates while in Hawaii.
Hey, that’s good to know. I wish somebody had told us while we were talking about it!
Bob and Becky, I really enjoyed the inaugural podcast! It was funny how Kristi kept wanting to interview you two. Thanks for the laughs and enjoy the retirement.
Garry and I had a great time at “checkerboard square”! Thanks for sharing and welcoming us to the group! It was fantastic!
Yay! I’m glad you were with us, and I’m especially glad to know you read the blog.
