Whit and Debbie Grayson joined us for a long drive to northern Michigan. We are camping at a KOA for the first time, in Petoskey. This place is really beautiful, with full hookups and a site where we were able to “buddy camp”. We backed the June Bug in and pulled the Steely Van in so that the awnings face each other to create a little compound. It’s terrific.
Supper provided the best camping laugh we’ve ever had. Bob found a recipe at a website called www.TwoMaidsAMilking.com, for pie iron tacos. They looked delicious. I have no idea how many tries it took for those two maids a-milking to get a pie iron taco to come out right. But we all agreed they are BIG LIARS.
Whit’s first comment after putting his iron on the coals was, “Mine is flaming like Apollo I”…and he was right. We timed the pie irons perfectly, and here are the results:
Much hilarity ensued. It was one of those “you had to be there” times, maybe….but at least the photos show how horrifying our supper was. We ended up with makeshift taco salads, after extracting the contents of the burned pies.
