Just as the weatherman predicted, we had bright sunshine all day today. It was very cold by Florida standards, but we rejoiced in the unclouded day.
On my morning walk I was pleased to see an Airstream 30’ Flying Cloud that arrived overnight

We took Vera on a short drive up the coast to Seaside, Florida. This beautiful planned town was the setting for the movie The Truman Show. The architecture is so attractive that I couldn’t decide where to rest my eyes. I wanted to take in everything, but it was so windy and chilly that we settled for lunch instead of a stroll.
The restaurant we chose was the Grand Southern, which allowed Vera inside. The food was especially delicious…my shrimp and grits were the best I’ve ever eaten, and I’ve eaten a LOT of shrimp and grits!
I don’t even know how to describe how cool the strip of old Airstreams were. I could have taken a million photos, but you’ll have to settle for these:

We sat in the sunshine at our campsite for a few hours, soaking it in. Our trip home to the frozen north is looming, so we’re making an attempt to enjoy every moment outside, in spite of the “cold”.
To get my fitbit steps in, I braved the strong winds and walked the hike to the beach. Grayton Beach is spectacular. And it was nearly deserted on this day. There was one cute couple sitting in chairs reading their books. I envied them their endurance at holding down the pages.

There are SO many warning signs in Florida state parks. What is the deal? I guess people can’t just police themselves any more.
Vera met a sweet golden retriever named Lucy, and we allowed her off the leash for a few minutes of play time. Breaking the rules AGAIN!!
On our last walk of the evening, we found a place Bob dubbed “The Mystery Stop” because it’s not on the campground map. We took the small unmarked path between sites 4 and 6, and it led to this magical opening, far from any other campsites. There was a fire ring and a small bench. Who knows what magic happens here?

Oh, I highly recommend this area. Just be aware that if you travel here in February it MIGHT GET REALLY REALLY REALLY COLD. hahaha
I love the pictures and the stories. The Mrs. and I don’t have an airstream, but we do have a Volkswagen Camper Bus. We love to camp every chance we get.

Love your adventures. Sad I’m late to the blog…. Westside Indy gal turned 30A local last year (moved down here the day before the polar vortex hit – timing is everything). So glad you enjoyed our little ‘hood down here…. and you’re right… cold down here is cold (maybe not polar vortex cold but it’s cold.). Safe travels. BTW, thankful to have found B&T affiliate for my 45-minute work commute each weekday…. miss B on the radio but glad you are having fun.
